me and my main man, Norm :)

After a long day, it was finally time for Kite to leave the factory. Three machines needed to be fixed and one nearly took out her hand when it started to work. She was again full of soot and dirt and wanted nothing but to jump in the docks. A bath in the lodge was out of the question since the girls would dump water on her before she even made it into the washroom. She waited patiently for the boys to be done as she sat on the dock and watched them rough house and splash each other. “Boys.” She giggled to herself.

After a long day at the factory, Kite was glad to be back at the lodge. Covered in grease and soot from working in the machines, the girls started their daily habit of ridiculing her. Even though she dreaded being made fun of at the lodge, she couldn’t help but laugh along with them. She had to admit some of their dirt jokes were funny. She looked over at one of the girls that did not find anything funny and looked quite annoyed. She apologized immediately, “Hi! Sorry I was laughing too loud! What are you working on? Anything I can help you with? I really like your glasses!” She smiled brightly at her.
Mischief slowly looked up from her work at the blond. She removed her glasses and stared her down. This girl was too perky, and yes, she was too loud for her liking. “Yeah, you can help me with something.” She sat up from her bunk and tossed her black hair over her shoulder. “You can help me by zipping your mouth shut.” Mischief flashed her a quick smile before returning to her work.
“You think you can do that, blondie?”
“Oh yes!! Sorry again! I’ll try to keep it down! Zipping my lip!” Kite smiled as she zipped her lip before heading to the washroom to take a bath.

Mischief laid on her bunk, furthest away from all the other girls. Two books laid in front of her, one which she was writing in and the other a ledger. Her finger caressed the book in front of her, stopping on a number. She scribbled a few things down before writing in the other book, almost…

Pyro hugged her back, not expecting that, “It’s alright! M’fine, everythin’ is in one piece love,” he laughed, watching her apologize, “Nah, I thin’ we can leave t’bulls out of this,” he raised an eyebrow, she was a peculiar one, even for him, “Cookies do sound great though…and my sandwich didn’t fair well..” he looked at the mess of deli meat and lettuce on the sidewalk, oh well, it was good while it lasted.
Kite frowned at the sight of what was left of his sandwich all over the ground. “Oh dear, it must have been a good sandwich too. I feel just awful! I’ll make you a new sandwich and bake you cookies and even get you a beer to make up for this!…Where am I anyway?”

Pyro didn’t care how late it was, he’d chased the sandwich vendor down after afternoon selling, it had taken him this long and double the time to convince the man he wasn’t going to beat him up. Pyro stood in the middle of the street, no wagons were coming, it was too late for any sane person to be awake, and took giant, well deserved bites out of the thing. “D’as good..” he swallowed, feeling that state of his stomach getting filled at each ginormous bite. He started walking along the sidewalk, munching slower, things had felt so quiet lately. He was convinced everyone had died, even the lodge was quieter. Or were they avoiding him? He didn’t know, he just knew he had dinner for once.
Kite decided to ride Victor around town before he was ready to get more trianing on the carriage. However, she lost track of the time and ended up at another part of town she was not familiar with. She looked around to ask for help but the horse was running too fast for her to stop. “Woaaahhh Victor!!” She yelled, pulling the reins as hard as she could, seeing him approaching a fella on a sidewalk. “VICTOR!!” She panicked and shut her eyes, hoping the horse would slow down and not kill the poor guy. She felt the horse stop in his tracks and she opened one eye, sighing in relief and thankful he did not witness a fatality.
Pyro didn’t even notice the horse until he heard Kite yell. All he could do was stand there and stare, sandwich halfway to his mouth, he jumped a bit when the horse stopped, “Jaysus Christ woman!” he finally got out, slinging sandwich contents all over the sidewalk, “Are ya alright?!” he looked the horse over, then looked at Kite, searching her over to make sure nothing had happened. “Horse had him a fit now didn’t he?”
“Nevermind me! How about you?! Are you alright?!” Kite hopped down, running over to him and threw her arms around him, hugging him and then looking around for any signs of injuries on him. “I’m so so so sorry! Usually Victor is very obedient but he got out of control! He’s never like this I swear! Please don’t hand me over to the police!! I’ll bake you cookies!!”

Kite was happy to know that new position as trainer at the stables was final! Not only was she going to be able to take the horses out, she was glad to know she was also going to help train them on pulling carriages. It was something she always wanted to do since she started working there. Happily skipping down the street, she went to Rudy’s to order herself a meal with lots of potatoes.
It was a rare thing for Kite to be able to eat out at a nice restaurant and she knew it was a perfect occasion to celebrate. However, she overheard some of the guys sat at the table behind her commenting on how she may be a prostitute for showing up alone. Kite rolled her eyes and continued eating. Can’t a girl just decide to eat out if she was hungry? Apparently not. The minute the guys started calling out rude remarks at her, all she could do was turn around and…
